Mastering The Use Of This Platform Malama - Gestational Diabetes

Malama helps women manage gestational diabetes during pregnancy and continue wellness support postpartum.

Using Malama, you can sync with a supported Bluetooth glucose meter to automatically pull in blood sugar and glucose levels. You can also manually log glucose levels if your meter is not yet supported.

After logging glucose levels, you can add meal tags, photos, carb notes, and other details to share with your care team.

Malama also offers powerful analytics using AI to help identify foods and meals that may trigger high blood glucose levels.

With our postpartum wellness program, Malama supports healthy routines after pregnancy, including ongoing food insights, glucose awareness, and lifestyle support.

We also offer connections to a network of prenatal nutritionists who specialize in gestational diabetes, pregnancy nutrition, and other prenatal conditions.

Great ideas, but still some bugs to fix. The AI is pretty good at helping you ball park carb count if you don't want to track down every ingredient of your casserole. However, there's a glitch for me when I take a photo for the food journal, it resets the app and doesn't save the picture. I've taken to taking a photo separately from the app and uploading it later. Also, I like to set a separate alarm for my blood sugar readings. It has a count down and is louder than my app notifications.

The app is great with lots of different settings, even ones for food allergies or sensitivities. However, as someone with a gluten allergy even selected in the settings, the app continues to give me meal plans containing breads or flours that I cannot eat. Another little bug I've noticed is that the camera feature for the food diary often assesses the photos wrong even when I manually put in what I've eaten it says there's items on my plate that aren't. Otherwise the app is awesome.

Definitely a work in progress as the opening screen suggests. There are things I like, such as not having to do a proper food diary, but the AI always assumes the worst meal from the description you put in no matter how much detail I add. The suggestions aren't accurate. This app is specifically for pregnant women yet it suggests fish for every dinner. Pregnant women shouldn't have more than 2 servings/week. It told me to have more consistent breakfast even though I eat the same meal every day
